How To Create This Rustic Table Plan At Your Wedding

Designing the perfect look for your rustic wedding takes more than finding the perfect wedding venue. Whether you’ve opted for a country barn or an English garden-inspired venue, it’s the decor that creates your rustic theme. Today we’re talking about a rustic table plan that will seriously set the scene for your special day…

One of the things we love most about rustic weddings is the fact it’s such an effortless yet beautiful theme. It’s perfect for those couples who want an organic, country feel to their day. It’s the little details that count, which is why this rustic plan table is made for a rustic affair!

Fleur Couture created this gorgeous rustic table plan using items from The Wedding of My Dreams shop.

How To Create Your Rustic Table Plan

This rustic table plan looks fab if you’ve got a variety of different size wooden crates. Fleur Couture placed the crates on the sides and layered them on top of one another as if to create shelving for the plant buckets and other props.

Place a couple of milk churns on top of the crates and fill with blooms for the ‘wow’ factor. Choosing flowers that match your wedding bouquet will look beautifully coordinated. Wild, natural flowers look particularly wonderful with this set-up as it simply adds another rustic element.

Use props such as a ‘LOVE’ light up sign to add a touch of ambience to your table plan. You could make it really personal by adding frames full of your favourite photographs and placing them in the shelving part of the crate. The possibilities are endless when it comes to decorating the wooden crates!

Rest the wooden table plan from The Wedding of My Dreams against the crates and fill the mini silver buckets with more pretty posies. Once you’ve done this, all you need to do is the finishing touches. Tie the brown luggage tags to the silver buckets and write down the seating arrangements so it’s clear where your guests need to sit.

This is such a simple yet effect rustic table plan and it looks beautiful in any area of your venue. Set up in the corner of your reception room so guests can easily see where they’re seating. You could even place it on a table to make it more of a ‘focal point’ of your reception room. The mixture of the wooden crates and colourful flowers will really help to create that beautiful rustic feel to your wedding venue. Keep the style throughout your wedding day and use crates or milk churns filled with blooms as your table centrepieces.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE: HOW TO MAKE CANDLES IN JARS

how to guide - make your own candles in jam jars or kilner jars for wedding favours, gifts or save the dates - put together by @theweddingomd - buy everything you need from their online shop

What you will need

To make the candle:

  • Wax beads (try eBay)
  • Cotton wick and wick tabs (try eBay)
  • Saucepan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Kilner Jar / Jam Jar
  • Wax colourant: wax crayons / chips / liquid form (optional)
  • Scent oil (optional)

To decorate your candles in jars:

If using a kilner jar for your candles remove the lid, put the inner part on one side as you will need it later to help with decorating your jar, the screw part of the lid can go back on your jar once the wax is inside

Put a saucepan on the hob on a low heat, pour your wax beads into the saucepan. Make sure the heat is warm enough to melt the wax but it should never reach boiling point. Stir with a wooden spoon. how to guide - make your own candles in jam jars or kilner jars for wedding favours, gifts or save the dates - put together by @theweddingomd - buy everything you need from their online shop

Cut a length of wick and lower it into your melted wax so it has a light covering of wax. Let the wick dry in a straight line and poke one end through the wick tab. Place the wick tab on the bottom of your jar and wrap the top of the wick around a lollipop stick resting on the jar to keep it in place. You want to wick in the centre of your jar.

Let the wax cool slightly and pour into your jar. Letting the wax cool a little before pouring in avoids the top of the candle dipping in the centre once it sets. how to guide - make your own candles in jam jars or kilner jars for wedding favours, gifts or save the dates - put together by @theweddingomd - buy everything you need from their online shop

Once the wax has set you can remove the lollipop stick and cut the wick to length.

Now it’s time to decorate your candles in jars!

how to guide - make your own candles in jam jars or kilner jars for wedding favours, gifts or save the dates - put together by @theweddingomd - buy everything you need from their online shop

Option 1: Create a stamped message as your lid. Use a kilner jar for this one, trace a circle around the inner part of the lid on to card or paper. Cut out the circle and stamp your message in the centre. Place the paper or card inside the screw part of the lid and screw it in place. how to guide - make your own candles in jam jars or kilner jars for wedding favours, gifts or save the dates - put together by @theweddingomd - buy everything you need from their online shop

Option 2: Same method as option 1 but if you don’t want to stamp your message you could print it on the the card instead. Use a font you like for your message, you could personalise this with your names and wedding date or perhaps you have a wedding logo you would like to use here. Cut a circle around the printed design and place inside the screw top lid. how to guide - make your own candles in jam jars or kilner jars for wedding favours, gifts or save the dates - put together by @theweddingomd - buy everything you need from their online shop

Option 3. We like this idea for smaller jam jars. Cut a circle of hessian just larger than the lid, place it over the lid and tie on with twine for a rustic chic look. how to guide - make your own candles in jam jars or kilner jars for wedding favours, gifts or save the dates - put together by @theweddingomd - buy everything you need from their online shop

Option 4. This can be used on it’s own or with the other decorative ideas. Write a message or stamp onto a cute gift tag with scalloped edges and tie on with natural twine or bakers twine. The tags will be blank on the back so you can write your own message on the reverse, We like this idea if you are giving candles as your Save The Dates.

Hot Chocolate Wedding Favours

What a fab idea for a winter wedding. Give your guests hot chocolate wedding favours. You can easily make these yourself, weeks in advance of the wedding so there will be no last minute panics to get them ready. A test tube is large enough for cocoa powder and marshmallows for one drink or treat your guests to a whole kilner jar of hot chocolate mix. You could mix it up and instead of hot chocolate give a mocha mix instead.
