Natural Wooden Bark And Tree Slice Wedding Decoration Ideas ~ Rustic Woodland

Are you hoping to create a woodland or rustic feel at your wedding? Maybe you have chosen a venue that suits the woodland style (a barn or farm wedding venue) or perhaps as a couple, you love the outdoors, and a woodland wedding just feels right.

One way to create a woodland style is to use lots of natural materials, we have chosen our favourite natural wood, bark and tree slice wedding decorations as well as ideas that you could use to create this look yourselves.

Natural wood & bark table number holders & place settings

For your wedding table numbers you could choose to have a table number holder made from an actual tree branch, use narrow branches so they don’t take up too much space on the table and slot your table number card into them. Or alternatively use a small tree slice and engrave the table number or name into it. This looks best propped up against your centrepiece so it is visible for guests.

Natural bark vases, tea light holders and tree slice wedding centrepieces

You want to create a relaxed centrepiece for a woodland styled wedding, nothing too perfect and uniformed, not all tables have to be the same. There are a number of different wooden bark vases and vessels that could be used to hold your flowers. Wild flowers look best with lots of texture. Around the bark vases add in a couple of bark tea light holders to complete the look.

The majority of venues provide a white linen table cloth for your tables, this is not very rustic! You will be surprised, adding a hessian table runner over the cloth works wonders. Or for an even more rustic touch use a wooden tree slice as the base of your centrepiece, positioning your bottles, jars and vessels on top. tree slice stree wedding centrepiece decoration ideas rustic woodland

Extra wedding decorations and ideas using tree stumps

Wooden tree slices or tree stumps could be used as a base for more than just your centrepieces. Large tree slices can be used for your wedding cake or lots of smaller ones for cup cakes or a dessert table.

For an outdoor woodland wedding ceremony, position larger tree stumps down either side of the aisle and place jam jars with flowers and candles on top. A simple but effective look. We also really love the idea of gathering lots of large tree stumps and piling them up to create shelves. Add candles in jam jars and vases to create a wow factor display. rustic woodland tree slice wedding cake stree stump wedding ceremony decoration ideas

How To Make Bark Tea Light Holders And Vases

Are you planning a rustic woodland wedding? This post shows you how to make bark tea light holders and vases which would be perfect decorations for a rustic woodland wedding. You can of course buy pre-made bark tea light holders and bark vases but it is often more budget friendly (and fun!) to make them yourself. You can add your own finishing touches such as ribbon and twine and create vases in whatever size you want.

HOW TO MAKE BARK COVERED TEA LIGHT HOLDERS AND VASES

YOU WILL NEED

1. Take a sheet of birch bark and soak in warm water for about 25 minutes until soft. This will stop the bark from splitting as you bend it.

2. Cut your sheet of bark into strips, this will vary depending on the size of the jar you are covering.

3.  Wrap a strip around your jar. If one strip doesn’t wrap the whole way around you can use more strips to cover.

4. Using the twine, secure the bark around the jar and tie in a bow or leave as a knot for a more rustic look. You could use ribbon, bakers twine or lace instead of the twine depending on your wedding style.

5. Complete the look by adding a tea light or flowers to your tea light holder or vase.

Another way to use the bark sheets is to use them to present you button holes on. Perfect for a rustic wedding.

Rustic Barn Wedding Ideas {Real Wedding – The Wedding of my Dreams}

Ella and Martin were married last month and had a rustic barn wedding at Shustoke Farm Barns in Warwickshire. Our sister company, Passion for Flowers, were their wedding florists and sent us over some photos from the day. If you are having a rustic barn wedding this should inspire you with some barn wedding ideas.

Barn Wedding Ideas – Ceremony

At Shustoke Farm Barns the ceremony takes place in the main barn, they have an amazing wooden table for the ceremony. Our bark vases and tea light holders look very in keeping with this rustic barn setting filled with a mix of white hydrangeas, wax flowers and lisianthus.

For the pew ends Ella and Martin had our jam jars covered in hessian material, these were filled with soft grey green toned foliage and white lisianthus tied to every other chair for decoration down the aisle. jam jars hessian pew ends aisle decorations rustic barn wedding the wedding of my dreams

Advice for the bride and grooom coasters were placed in a wooden trug on a side table in the barn for guests to have fun with. These make a great alternative to a traditional guest book. advice for the bride and groom coasters the wedding of my dreams

Barn Wedding Ideas – Tables

On the tables blackboard buckets were used as the centrepieces as well as table numbers with zinc tea light holders to give some extra light. The menus were tied with string to a piece of slate to continue the rustic look.

Barn Wedding Ideas – Table Plan

Ella and Martin also chose our rustic wedding table plan, this looked perfect set up in the barn. Each little silver bucket represented a different table with the guests names written on a luggage tag. Passion for Flowers provided a piece of slate which was used as a sign to draw guests attention to the table plan. rustic wedding table plan flower pots plants the wedding of my dreams
